California remains vigilant for our environment
Two years ago the U.S. withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord. This international agreement included 195 countries who pledged to cut their greenhouse gases in an effort to slow global warming.
Currently, it is more clear than ever that climate change is causing serious damage. Fortunately, here in California we are taking our own steps to fulfill the goals set forth in the international agreement.
HOW IS CALIFORNIA FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE?
California is leading the way on greenhouse gas emissions reductions. The state passed landmark legislation in 2016 to reduce its overall greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, and 40% below 1990 levels by 2030.
Some of the policies developed to ensure that these benchmarks are reached focus on:
BEING A LEADER WHEN IT COUNTS THE MOST
America's past is full of opportunities when we have lead the way for progress. However, when the nation veers off course we can be proud as Californians to know that we are doing our share to preserve the planet. We will not back down.
